Mango Fool – easy dessert made with sweet, ripe mangoes and flavored whipped cream. A quick and easy summer treat to cool off during warmer days! Incredibly satisfying!
Do you know there are over a hundred if not a thousand mango varieties out there? Growing up, in Cameroon, we only had two types of mangos to content with – number one and number two mangoes. Seriously, that is how we call them. My favorite is number one – they are quite juicy, sweet as candy, with a greenish exterior even when ripen. Oh how I miss it…. like a child misses its blanket.
I have tried several varieties here, in Los Angeles but nothing comes close to it. During the summer, I get to settle with this mango here, left out to ripen and they hit the spot- for now.
Anyways, here is an easy dessert that you can whip up right now when mangoes are in season. They are best made with really ripe mangoes, so as not sweeten it up with lots of sugar.
If you have never tried a mango fool before Or aren’t familiar with it, fools are basically fruit mixed in with whipped cream and are quite easy to make with a short list of ingredients.
Feel free to switch the fruit with berries, papaya, peaches, pineapples or a combination of any two fruits. A healthy alternative would be to use greek yogurt . To spice this fool up you can also lace the mango puree with 1-2 tablespoons of rum.

This recipe looks great! It’s too bad you have to miss your childhood favorite mangos. There’s such a huge difference between the flavors and they can also taste dreadful if you don’t have a good one. I love a delicious mango though. I will definitely save this recipe, it looks so summery and festive!
