Homemade Garlic Bread

Homemade Garlic Bread – hands-down the easiest and tastiest homemade garlic bread that comes ready in just 20-minutes. A classic side dish that’s perfect with everything. Better than your usual store-bought garlic bread!

Homemade Garlic Bread

This Homemade Garlic Bread is the quickest bread side dish that you can prepare right before serving a meal. Hassle-free slices of bread with spot on flavors and even waaay better than store-bought ones. Not to mention that they’re inexpensive, too.

Crusty on the outside and buttery soft on the inside! The hardest part is perhaps resisting the urge to eat the entire loaf. Yes, you’ll thank me later for the early warning. 😉

What Types of Bread Can I Use?

While it would be lovely to make good garlic bread out of a fancy artisan baguettes, I would still prefer the standard French loaf for this recipe as the crust isn’t that thick. It has the right ratio of crust to bread. But if all you have in your pantry is a regular bread or some leftover hamburger buns, that would still make a decent garlic bread for your soup or pasta.

How To Make Garlic Bread Spread?

Making the spread is a no-brainer. Simply mix butter (at room temperature), garlic, Italian seasoning, Creole seasoning, salt and parsley in a small mixing bowl. Then set it aside.

No Italian or Creole seasoning? Don’t worry. You can go as basic as salt along with herbs, garlic and butter. Adding Italian and Creole seasoning in this spread elevates the flavor in every slices of this bread.

Want it cheesy? Go ahead and shamelessly top the bread with cheese(s). You can go for 1 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella and/or parmesan cheese.

Lastly, please use fresh garlic. I think that’s what separates homemade and store-bought garlic bread. The store-bought ones have that distinct sourness into it, perhaps due to the preservatives.

It wouldn’t be called classic for no reason. This classic bread here is great with your favorite soup and most especially pastas. But it doesn’t just stop right there. You may also pair it with any meaty dinner and call it a day.

How To Make Garlic Bread

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease with baking spray. Set aside.

Homemade Garlic Bread
First, combine butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, Creole seasoning, salt and parsley in a small mixing bowl. Mix together with a small rubber spatula or wooden spoon until fully combined. Set aside. Using a bread knife, slice bread vertically into 1 inch thick slices, not cutting all the way through, stop just before you reach the bottom of the crust, (about 1/2 inch from the bottom).

Homemade Garlic Bread
Use a pastry brush or spoon to spread an even coating of butter mixture on the top of bread and on both sides of the bread slices. Be generous, and if there is any leftover butter, refrigerate in an airtight container. If using cheese, sprinkle some over the butter mixture in between each slice of bread.

Homemade Garlic Bread
Finally, wrap loaf of bread completely in aluminum foil, place wrapped bread on baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Open the top of the foil and bake another 5 minutes to let the top of the bread toast a little. Serve warm.

TIP: For crispy crunch on the outside and soft inside, you may opt not to wrap the bread in foil.

Another Way To Prepare This Bread

Alternately, you can also prepare your Homemade Garlic Bread the easier way, especially when you’re pressed in time. Simply cut the bread in half lengthwise and generously spread the garlic spread mixture up to the edges and sprinkle with cheese on top. Finally, lay them both side by side on a lined baking sheet and bake 10-15 minutes or until toasty.
