Slow Cooker Pork Chops – fork-tender juicy pork chops smothered in a delicious creamy mushroom gravy sauce. Absolutely comforting, budget-friendly and fuss-free weeknight dinner that the whole family would love!
Does your family prepare pork chops or chicken more too often? These two are usually our go-to dinner here at home. They’re budget-friendly, easy to work on and very versatile! Honestly, I could make a long list of recipes for these two.
Today’s recipe is one of our go-to dinner, especially during the colder months. It requires little preparation and you just let the slow cooker do all the work for you. Absolutely amazing, isn’t it? That’s why I won’t last a week without using my slow cooker even if it’s hot outside. Yep, absolutely guilty here!
How Do You Defrost Pork Chops Quickly?
Nothing is more annoying when it’s time to cook for dinner than discovering you completely forgot to take out the frozen meat out of the freezer. Agree? I’m sure we all could relate to this. So below are few of the ways that you can easily do to quickly defrost your pork chops (or meat in general):
- Unpacked frozen meat and transfer in a microwave-safe plate or bowl. Set your microwave to defrost setting or at 40% power setting for 2 minutes, flip over and separate any pieces stuck together. See more of it HERE.
- Submerge your bag of frozen pork chops in a cold tap water and change the water every 30 minutes to ensure it stays sufficiently cold.
Note: Small packages of frozen meat would defrost about an hour or less while larger ones would take approximately 30 minutes of defrosting time per pound.
3. Unwrap the frozen chops and place in a bowl with lukewarm water (roughly at 105°F ). Then place it in the sink under a rapidly dripping faucet and leave the meat under the water until it has completely thawed (about 20 minutes for smaller cuts). Dripping water should be slightly cool to touch. See more of it HERE.
Can I Cook Frozen Pork Chops without Thawing?
If you think all of those methods above won’t work on your way, you may cook the pork chops without thawing, HOWEVER, it will take about 50% longer or more to cook them in a frozen state.
How Long to Cook Pork Chops in Slow Cooker?
For 3/4 to an inch bone in or out pork chops, cook them in the slow cooker on LOW for 7-8 hours or 3-4 hours on HIGH setting.
How to Cook Pork Chops in Slow Cooker
Cooking pork chops in the slow cooker is super easy! Honestly, this is perfect during lazy days or when you’re preparing something else other than this main dish. You just have to prepare to prepare the gravy, pour it into the chops and let the slow cooker do the rest for you. So once you get home, dinner is already waiting to be served.
- First part of this dish is searing the seasoned chops for that nice little crust in the outside and to make use of its juice to add flavor to our gravy.
- Next is to prepare the gravy sauce. Start with sauteing the veggies and seasoning it using Dijon mustard and homemade Italian Seasoning HERE. Then pour in water and the heavy cream and bring to a boil and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
- Pour the sauce into the slow cooker with the seared pork chops and cook as directed in the instruction box.
- Lastly, just before the chops are done, thicken the sauce by combining in flour and 1/4 of water and pouring it into the slow cooker.
If you’re not a fan of mushrooms, feel free to skip them and your favorite veggies. These are definitely one of the best pork chops you’ll have in your entire life!

How To Make Slow Cooker Pork Chops
Season pork chops generously with salt, pepper and Creole seasoning.
Preheat 2 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat in a cast iron or heavy Dutch pan, brown pork for about 3 minutes on each side. When ready, transfer pork into the slow cooker.
Preheat the remaining oil in the cast iron pan, add in onion, garlic and thyme. Sauté until onions is transparent and fragrant, for about 3-5 minutes. Next add in mushroom, Dijon mustard and Italian seasoning. Sauté for another 3 minutes.
Pour in water and heavy cream, bring to a boil and simmer for about 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Transfer sauce to pork in the slow cooker and cook for about 7-8 hours on low OR 3-4 hours on high until the pork is tender. Just before the pork chop is done, (about 30 minutes to the time), whisk together flour and ¼ cup of water until it is smooth in a small bowl. Pour the flour mixture with the pork chop in the slow cooker and stir gently. Cook until gravy has thickened. Serve over rice, mashed potatoes or noodles and some veggies.
