Jasmine rice, also known as Thai fragrant rice, is a long-grain aromatic rice mainly from Thailand.

It comes in white, brown, red and black varieties, is less sticky than sushi rice but stickier than American rice. In 2017, it won the award for the best rice in the world.

Rinse rice until the water is not too cloudy anymore, then drain. Boil rice and water in a pot, reduce heat and simmer for 9-10 min. Turn off stove, let sit for 10-15 min. Fluff with a fork and serve.

Stove top version:

Add rice, water to the pot. Turn the knob to the Sealing Position. Cook at high pressure for three minutes. Release Pressure - rest for about 10 minutes. Fluff and serve.

Instant Pot version

Use a 1:1 water-to-rice ratio in the rice cooker, and cook it in on the white rice setting. When, done, let it rest for 10-20 minutes. Gently fluff with a spoon or fork then serve.

Rice Cooker version

Clean rice before cooking, remove debris. Jasmine rice doesn't need to soak. Let cooked rice rest for 10-15 mins before serving. Adjust water for desired consistency. Less water for drier rice, more for stickier rice. Perfect for fried rice dishes.

Rice is best fresh, but can be prepped in advance by parboiling, refrigerating for up to 6 days or freezing for 6 months. Reheat with water in microwave or low heat on stove before serving.

How do you like your rice? Plain or seasoned? Let me know in the comments! 😊
